Above is a slideshow of the pictures from Marina Village and the Atlantis Movie Theatre..
Earlier this month, I went over to Paradise Island after another event that I had gone to for Independence Day. It was unexpected but a great experience nonetheless. I was already all dressed up the the event prior to that and ready to go home and go to sleep, but I happily tagged along for another opportunity to get some great pictures for this blog.
So we headed over the Paradise Island bridge and went to Marina Village, and while waiting in Marina Village for some more of our friends, I decided to browse and check out some shops. It was pretty crowded in general for that day being a holiday and I was surprised to see Ben & Jerry's line out the door and onto the pathway. I stopped by The Plait Lady who sells authentic Bahamian crafts from sisal. She sells Androsia print clothing (which originated in Andros), straw bags, seashell jewelry, jams, straw wallets and so much more. I passed by Bimini Road which is a restaurant hat I ate to years ago for a friend's birthday. I remember enjoying the food there. I also stopped in My Ocean which only sold handmade Bahamian items. The salesperson there was very helpful in helping me find what I was looking for in the store which wasn't actually anything, but I asked her if they sold products for sensitive k skin anyway. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had a whole section devoted to products for people with sensitive skin. All their sponges were natural sea sponges from the ocean and the soaps were lightly scented. They had a few clothing items and coasters as well. I went in Pandora where they were fully stocked with every chain and charm and they even gave me a catalogue to keep. Junkanoo 'N' Tings is located on the Marina and sells trinkets as well as paintings. Also in the Marina are parked yachts and a view of Atlantis which is always nice to see.
So then we walked to the Coral Towers which is a very short distance from the Marina. In Coral Towers are hotel rooms and other shops as well as a movie theater. Apparently, we went their to see a movie. The movie showing we went to was the 10:00pm showing of the Jackal which is rated R. I had no idea what the movie was about and didn't even realize it was rated R until I checked back on my pictures later. I'm not one for movie reviews but this movie was great. It had plot twists and turns that I wasn't expecting, but it still followed a regular story progression. The ending caught me as well. Basically The Jackal is about an assassin who is hired for a job, but law enforcement are trying to track him down. That's a brief synopsis without ruining the movie with spoilers. I wasn't too fond f the excessive cursing in the beginning and the blood and gore from the shootings but it did make the movie more intense and had me on the edge of my seat. I should also add that the movies are free, but the snacks at the concession stand are not. So that was my recent experience at Marina Village and the Atlantis Movie Theatre.
